New glass cabinets arranged

As announced in my last post, I assambled the two glass cabinets this week. With my father's help, the somehow cryptic written instructions and some beer I managed to build up two Bjurska glass cabinets from IKEA and made them the new home for my painted miniatures:
They are 1,90m tall and 0,80m wide. Mostly they're of press board with a nice but artifical wood veneer. Quality as usual of the great Swedish carpenter. Usually they are 260,- € a piece but since they're to dropped of the product range I got them for 99,- € each. A good deal I think. And additionally they're match with the two family heritage chairs we have in our entrance hall.

However I filled the one cabinet with all my Warhammer 40K and Fantasy miniatures while the other one is reserved for historical stuff. As you see there's plenty of room left, so I can proceed with expanding my collection.
However I'll have to look for some additional glass boards because the four which were delivered with each cabinet are just too few. To be honest I hope to have filled the Napoleonic board by the end of this year at latest...

Speaking of increasing my collection:
This week I finished my the 9pdr RFA guns. While the crew was painted since June, I managed to get the guns and the bases done this week. Some pictures will follow within the next days.

Additionally a small game of Blackpowder will take place at Monty's tomorrow evening. Just a 2,40m x 1,20m board with French and Allied troops facing each other. Two infantry brigades, some artillery and some cavalry on either side. I'll try to take some pictures and give you a kind of repaort next week.

So have a nice weekend and have luck with the dice!

  2. Well... Some of them are her's actually. Although she never found her way into the hobby she made some attemps with Undead and Tyranids. She has been loving her "little bugs" still...

And on the other side there were a set of longbows hanging before. It's kind of from the frying pan into the fire...

  7. Glass cabinets are really the best tool in showcasing your collections, which is very cool by the way. You're very talented and patience because collecting and painting your own miniatures isn't an easy task. Anyway, I just hope you already filled up the empty space on your cabinet.
